I had the immense pleasure in documenting Daniel and Faye’s wedding day yesterday which was held at the Mercure Oak Hotel in Wigan town center.

Upon waking I immediately noticed the weather wasn’t looking too good but local weather reports did state that it was improving as the day went on! I was glad but as a precaution I packed my 5 white umbrellas in the car just in case we needed them for the group shots later on. I left home and arrived at the hotel in good time where I then went up to Faye’s room where her and the Bridal party were having their make-up and hair done. I begun documenting the build up followed by shots of the smaller details.

After a couple of hours Faye and the girls decided it was time to get ready and slip into their dresses. As I captured the last moments of the preparations I made my way down stairs to meet and greet the boys who were having a drink at the bar. Daniel was in good spirits whilst greeting his family and friends who arrived ready to witness and celebrate the days events.

Daniel soon made his way into the ceremony room where he was waiting for the arrival of his beautiful Bride. The Bridesmaids and flower girls made their appearance followed by Faye and her Father who walked together smiling away 🙂

The ceremony was lovely and as quickly as it started it was quickly completed with the exchange of rings and signing of the register. The new Mr & Mrs Fields then walked back up the aisle together hand-in-hand and followed me to the front doors of the building to do a confetti photo with their guests. After this we went straight into the formal group shots although 15 minutes in we knocked it on the head due to a little rain. The only shot left to do was the large group shot of everyone but this was absolutely fine to do later in the day.

Daniel and Faye waited around the bar area of the Hotel’s reception whilst the wedding coordinator invited guests into the wedding reception room to sit. The newly weds were then officially announced and everyone cheered and clapped 🙂 The speeches were read before the wedding breakfast as the Father of the Bride, the Groom and the Best man all wanted to get them out of the way! Three wonderful speeches were read out which included heartfelt words, thank yous and funny stories.

Afterwards when the weather improved including a little sunshine we got our last formal group photograph which was nice. I then asked the happy couple if they wanted to crack on with the more intimate photos of them together around the grounds of the Hotel which they were very much happy to do 🙂

I captured some stunning shots of them but the one that sticks out for me is the prop photo with them separately holding a pair of ‘Bride/Groom’ paper glasses. It was only a little bit of fun but I knew it would loosen them up a little and enjoy the experience of having their photo taken.I hope they enjoyed themselves but more importantly I hope they had an amazing and memorable day!

I prepped my gear for the last time as the first dance was only a couple of minutes away at this point of the evening. There was a surprise in store with one of Daniel’s ushers singing their first dance song and it was a wonderful moment for everyone watching on.

I look forward to sending the remaining photographs to the happy couple although for the time being please enjoy these sneak peek shots….

Thank you 🙂
