My second wedding of the weekend which was to be held at Wigan’s Mercure Oak Hotel involved such a lovely couple who I had met a couple of years ago at a wedding fair which the hotel had organised. We met again after they saw me and we discussed many things related with my photography services and their big day. I got a message shortly after saying they were very happy and wished to proceed with booking me for their wedding day which I was ecstatic to hear 🙂
We met a few months ago this year to do their pre-wedding shoot which we captured in Mesnes Park in Wigan town center. It was good fun and they enjoyed it and as part of the deal at the time of booking they had a FREE print included which was to be presented on the day and signed by their family and friends 🙂
The day arrived and I was super excited and even after battling the traffic through Ince, Wigan I was eager to get going with the Bridal Preparations at Leanne’s parent’s home. The morning involved a short period of me upstairs capturing the smaller details which included the wedding dress, shoes, jewelry, flowers etc followed by documenting the getting ready part. I’d say throughout a wedding day from start to finish approximately 80-90% of my work is natural and unobtrusive imagery as I believe this method captures the true essence of the day this way!
Once Leanne began to get into her wedding dress I made my way back through the bad traffic to arrive at the Hotel ready to photograph the ceremony. Paul was outside when I arrived and after a quick hand shake and a hello from me, he made his way inside along with family and friends to take their seats. Leanne soon arrived with her Mum, Bridesmaid and Dad and after the registrar confirmed all the official details they all made their way inside to prepare for the short walk down the aisle.
Paul was ready at the front and once the ceremony was in full flow the happy couple soon relaxed and enjoyed it whilst smiling away at one another 🙂 After rings were exchanged and the official signing of the register was complete the new Mr & Mrs McCann walked back up the aisle hand-in-hand to be greeted with their glass of fizz before heading outside for the confetti shot.
The newly weds wanted photos in the park of them two together so we popped into the wedding classic car and headed off. We spent around 30 minutes walking around and having fun whilst they had some lovely and memorable photographs captured of them. I knew time was against us and that we needed to do the formal group photos before the wedding breakfast so once we were happy and ready to go we made our way back to the wedding venue.
With the formal shots done of specific family and friends Paul and Leanne had around 10 minutes before they were to head inside for their meal and speeches. So they were invited by Natasha who was the wedding coordinator to check the room over which gave me the opportunity to do the mock cutting of the cake. They were constantly saying throughout checking the room that they didn’t want to cut the cake later as they loved it!! Becky ‘s Crafty Cakes was the maker and designer of this amazing superhero themed wedding cake 🙂
With the meal eaten and speeches read it was time for the team at the Hotel to turn the room around ready for the evening part of the day. I asked Paul and Leanne if they wanted a couple of photos of them around the venue before they settled and enjoyed the remaining hours of their special day and they said yes. We had a further 10 minutes before they got ready for the official cutting of the cake and then the first dance. Leanne even had a lovely moment with her Dad dancing away to an 80’s classic.
I hope the happy couple had a wonderful and memorable day and I wish them all the best in their married life together 🙂
For now please enjoy these sneak peek shots from their big day.
