Scott and Rachel were recommended to me by Macdonald Kilhey Court who I have been working with for a few months now. They contacted me after they confirmed their wedding date with the venue and we scheduled a day to meet up and discuss their big day whilst they looked through my portfolio and wedding ‘storybook’ albums.
They decided to go ahead with my Platinum Package which includes a pre-wedding shoot as they wanted some lovely photos of them together and to also have a better understanding of how I work and how it’ll be on their wedding day.
The day finally arrived and I headed 5 minutes up the road to the stunning Macdonald Kilhey Court where I arrived to begin the Bridal Preparations. With a black coffee ordered I headed upstairs to the Bronte Suite where Rachel and the girls were getting their hair done by Lauren and beauty make-up done by Laura. The girls did a fantastic job and were very friendly and professional. I documented the first 45 minutes before beginning photographing the smaller details including the dress, shoes, flowers, jewelry etc.
I soon headed downstairs to capture the shots of the build up before the ceremony began. Scott and the Ushers were outside soaking up the sunshine and making sure the Best man had the rings I’m sure 🙂 Guests were arriving and making their way to the ceremony room as time was approaching the arrival of the Bride.
Rachel and the girls made their way downstairs to the wedding coordinator where she prepared them outside the doors as the registrar asked everyone to stand and then officially announced the Bridal party. Rachel’s Dad looked very proud as he walked with his beautiful Daughter smiling away.
The ceremony went smoothly which included the exchange of rings and then the formal signing of the register shot with witnesses. The new Mr & Mrs Keighley then walked hand-in-hand back up the aisle as they smiled to their family and friends. After 10-15 minutes of leaving them to calm down and enjoy the moment with their guests I then cracked on with the formal group shots on the grass with the iconic building in the background. We also had time to do a confetti photo before I left them to enjoy some time with everyone before they were later invited inside to check out the room which they will be enjoying their first meal together as Husband and Wife. This gave me the opportunity to get a sneaky ‘mock’ shot of them cutting the cake.
So the time came for family and friends to stop eating all the sweets from the candy cart and take up their seats before cheering the newly weds into the room. They all enjoyed their meal before speeches began from Rachel’s Dad, Best man and then lastly Scott. They were great and even included the location of Scott and Rachel’s honeymoon destination…Bangor! (only those who know the joke will get this one I’m afraid) ;-P
I prepped my gear before asking the happy couple if they were ready to get those all important shots of them together before the evening was to take over. We got straight into it and they took it all in their stride. They looked like they really enjoyed and we got some great photographs of them together.
With a long period before the evening began gave me the opportunity to walk round and capture the more documentary shots of guests enjoying themselves. Scott and Rachel came down from their room and made their way onto the dance floor after an announcement from the DJ. They enjoyed their moment together especially as it was their first dance as Husband and Wife! Rachel even had a dance with her Dad afterwards which was very touching.
I hope they had a wonderful and memorable day along with their lovely family and friends. I look forward to getting the remainder of their wedding photographs to them but for the time being enjoy some sneak peek shots I’ve chosen 🙂
